Our Work

Action Update

For 10 years, we lobbied in Albany, phoned and wrote emails and letters to our legislators, advocating Medical Aid in Dying.

​

Finally, in 2025, the bill was passed by the New York State Assembly and Senate.  The Governor’s signature on the bill is expected by the first week in February, 2026.

 

The law will allow persons with 6 months or less to live to request from their physician a prescription that they can take to end their lives.

 

Looking forward, our mission is to explain the law and its role as part of end-of-life planning.
